Jeff Daniels vs. Laura Linney.

It’s vague enough to be almost anything. The myth that drinking Coca Cola and eating Pop Rocks will explode you? The mythologizing of the Obamas? Demythologizing the American jackalope? The myth of global warming (if you’re into thinking like that)? The myth that Bert and Ernie are gay? And then there’s the regular stuff: Greek, Egyptian, Mesoamerican, Oceanic, Chinese, Aboriginal, Vedic, etc. Duh.

The new theme is this: Abraham Lincoln. He turned 200 this month. Here’s your chance to show him and everyone that you care. Or that you don’t, whatever. These are some important things about Abe to consider:
1. Everyone loves him
2. He had a really high pitched voice
3. He was really tall
4. Thinking about his assassination makes me cry
5. He made a cameo in a Star Trek TOS episode where he helped Spock & Kirk fight evil.
So, do what you want. There’s so much to work with here – The Gettysburg Address, having a cool beard, top hats, slavery , the Civil War, compassion, some people say that he was gay and then other people say that he wasn’t.You know all about him, you love him.
Costumes, drawings, songs, traditional American food in the first half of the 19th century, reimagining the Lincoln postal stamps that just came out and really aren’t that cool? Work That.

Blast way off into uncharted territory with Skip Sawburn’s take of “Danger Zone”. He’s gonna take you there….

The girl just wants to get out of Skid Row, alright?

My scanner is only scanning one part of this and it is making me freak out. It says ” young Harold Ramis is so cute” and then it says “Pancakes ( i think?)” and then it says “Some guy from high school or something”. duh.
1. GREAT beginning! I love the use of the screen. Simply silhouetted dance moves are truly beautiful.
2. Beautiful costume. Full body stocking was a great idea. It makes us think you’re naked, but you’re actually not! One piece of constructive criticism, though, if you really want this piece to go places I suggest real leaves rather than faux.
3. Who is the choroegrapher and how can I get in touch with her/him? Just kidding, Marty, I know you choreographed this. It’s great. It really is. I’m sure Mort Guffman would love it as well. Except as we all know he often doesn’t feel like showing up to shows which he promised to attend.
4. Another thing about the choreography, when you do a sort of pike jump, I believe The Dude did that in a dream once. How’s that for a compliment, eh?
5. Marty, did you know that you’re a YouTube celebrity? You’re a real one too because not only are you on there, but there are about twenty videos of other people doing your moves.
6. Great music choice.
7. Love the “cycle” theme.
8. I know there weren’t very many people in the audience and three of them were busy talking about Branded and burgers, but don’t worry man. You’ll catch your break. I was enraptured by your performance.
9. That about sums it up. Wonderful. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for your dance/choreogrpahy career.
Electronic groundhog soundscape.
That groundhog is creeping around again, did you see where he went?
Skip Sawburn tries to find out…
